About Good Bean Gifts
Hi, my name’s Tim, and I love coffee.
I mean, I really, really love coffee.
If you’re here, you probably do too.
Or, maybe you’re here because you have a friend or family member who loves coffee and it’s a “guilt by association” thing. Well, make yourself at home, I’ll do my best to bring you into this coffee-freak-family!
Why I do what I do
My mission is simple: to bring a dash of caffeinated joy to your everyday life and allow you to share your love of coffee with the world. Plus, I also want to make this world a better place, not just for you and me, but for the whole coffee supply chain, from the bean to cup. And all the other causes I (we) care about, and there are many!.
Our main give back is to Opal House in Guatemala. My trips there have been transformational.
Opal House is a refuge for the impoverished children of Guatemala. Located high in the mountains of Lake Atitlan is a 59 acre farm where peace and love exist. There the guests receive physical, spiritual and educational nourishment. The children are served in their native culture, customs and language. Medical and surgical services is provided to the local community.
Children with good nutrition, education, and hope will be able to contribute back to the Guatemalan society as adults.
How did I get in the coffee cult?
My coffee journey started with humble beginnings, sipping gas station coffee. Since it was only a caffeine delivery system, it didn’t matter what it tasted like, right? With many of my peers, I moved on to big-chain coffee shops. A definite step up, but I didn’t stop there. I began to care more about both the taste of my coffee and the health of the whole supply chain. In Guatemala for a mission trip, I spoke to coffee farmers and roasters and my obsession grew.
Beans, roaster relationships, cuppings, a podcast, and a business or two later, I decided to turn my love of the coffee culture into a way to share fun gifts, gear, and merch and be in a community.
If my wife would let me, I could easily open a coffee shop out of my kitchen. But, for now, that’s not an option!

Are there other things in my life besides coffee?
As far as the other details I’m supposed to include on an about page…I’m also a huge fan of Memphis-style BBQ. I’m ridiculously curious – resulting in a mind full of random facts. I am also a Tennessee Vol fan and Nashville Predator fan. Music moves me more than anything other than coffee, BBQ, and my family. And, I’m proud to call the rolling hills of Middle Tennessee home. I hope the warmth and hospitality this region is known for comes through in these digital web pages.
